Monthly Payment Plans

Tuition Management Systems (TMS)
For students, parents, or other payers wishing to pay a bill on a monthly basis, the University of Cincinnati offers payment plans via Tuition Management Systems (TMS).  Such plans provide an option for those persons who cannot pay the entirety of a bill by the bill due date.  Students may select a quarterly or annual payment plan.  There is an enrollment fee for each plan.

Before Signing Up
Before creating payment arrangements with TMS, the student, parent, or other payer needs to determine the necessary payment amount to pay a bill in full.  (Click here to view your bill.)

For example, consider this sample quarterly bill:

	Federal Stafford Loan - Subsidized				875 CR

In the above example, $1,200 is required to pay the quarterly bill in full.  TMS will divide this amount into three monthly payments of $400.  (This does not include the payment plan enrollment fee.)  These payments are due to TMS according to the schedule on the right.

Please Note: A common mistake made by payers is not providing TMS with the right budget amount needed.  The payer then assumes the bill will be paid in full; however, such mistakes can lead to late payment fees (assessed by TMS and the university) and service blocks.  Again, using the example above, consider if the payer informed TMS only $1,000 was required.  This would leave the sample bill with a balance due of $200.  ($1,200 - 1,000 = 200).  Because there was a balance due, the bill is subject to a late payment fee and service blocks.

Enrollment Process and Fees
Once you have determined your correct budget amount, read the rest of the information on this page and click on the statement in red at the bottom.  This link will take you directly to the TMS website.  We suggest that you sign up by the earliest payment deadline to avoid any additional fees on your tuition bill.  Please note the TMS payment deadlines on the right side of this page.

TMS is an interest free payment plan, however there is an initial enrollment fee.  The following are your payment plan options:
                 9 Month Plan (covers 3 quarters + $80.00 enrollment fee)
                 3 Month Plan (covers 1 quarter + $45.00 enrollment fee)
                
TMS also offers a separate Employment Reimbursement Plan that has a $50.00 enrollment fee and an additional form that must be completed.

All of your payments will be made directly to TMS.  Payments are due on the first day of each month in the plan.  If a payment is received late, you may be assessed a late fee.

How TMS is reflected on the bill
Once the payer completes the TMS agreement, TMS will communicate to UC that the student has a TMS payment plan.  The student's bill will then reflect a "TMS Budget" and any TMS payments made.  The "budget" reflects the initial amount in the payment agreement while "payments" reflects the amount already paid to TMS.  For example, if the payer enrolls in a payment plan for $1,200 with TMS, this amount of the initial budget.  The budget then decreases each time a TMS payment is made.

The example below shows a sample bill after one TMS payment is made:

The remaining TMS budget is $800 ($1,200 - 400 payment = 800).  The budgeted and payment amount will change as payments are made to TMS.  Please note: UC receives information from TMS twice per month.  Because of this, the bill may not always reflect your most recent TMS payment activity.  To confirm payments with TMS, please visit their web site.
